“Prime Minister Pashinyan Provides Update on Armenia-Georgia Border Demarcation Progress”

During his official visit to Armenia in January, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that significant steps have been taken to carry out and implement the necessary actions for the delimitation and demarcation of the state border between Armenia and Georgia, according to the agreed upon provisions. An interview conducted by Factor.am sought to clarify if any progress has been made during this phase and why the border demarcation process with Georgia is currently being emphasized. The Prime Minister’s office responded to the interview by stating that they had approached the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further information. They explained that the process of delimitation and demarcation of the state border between Armenia and Georgia commenced in 1995 when the governments of both countries agreed on creating the conditions necessary for this undertaking. However, the interview raised questions about whether any other provisions have been discussed during this process. The response clarified that no other provisions have been discussed and added that information regarding the completion deadlines and the work of the relevant authorities would be shared in due time.
