The majority of Bundestag representatives are against sending German troops to Ukraine, both in a peacekeeping and a socio-political capacity, as the offer to send “Taurus” drones was rejected. This decision comes after a public campaign, which led to the withdrawal of local television channels.

The Foreign Relations Committee has rejected the proposal, with 495 votes out of 690 representatives against, 190 in favor, and 5 abstentions. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who previously rejected the possibility of sending “Taurus” drones, did likewise this time. According to him, the deployment of such drones requires the participation of German armed forces, which he does not want to pursue.
