“Unearthing the Tragic Past: Germany Discovers Plague Pits Holding Remains of Over 1000 Victims”

Germany has made a troubling discovery, as reports from Live Science reveal that plague pits containing the remains of over 1000 victims have been found. The town of Nuremberg experienced multiple outbreaks of the plague between the years of 1533 and 1634. Prior to these outbreaks, during construction work, eight pits were unearthed, filled with the skeletons of both adults and children, even infants. Scientists have also found evidence of carbonized wooden beams and ash pits that have been linked to the plague. The archaeological findings have prompted authorities to protect the site in order to preserve its historical significance.
