Yerevan’s 2023 Budget Breaks Records: Expenses Reach 111 Trillion Armenian Drams, Exceeding Revenue

Expenses in 2023 have reached a staggering amount of 111 trillion 165 billion Armenian drams, representing 90 percent of the total expenses. These figures were revealed by the Minister of Finance of Yerevan during a press conference held on March 12, 2023, where the budget for Yerevan in 2023 was presented.

The Minister highlighted that a significant portion of these expenses, over 35 percent, is allocated to the education, healthcare, and social security sectors. Additionally, transportation accounts for 27.9 percent, while the protection of the environment in rural areas accounts for 12.2 percent.

Furthermore, the Minister disclosed that the revenues of Yerevan’s budget for 2023 have surpassed expectations, exceeding 114 trillion 830 billion Armenian drams. This amount surpasses the projected 112 trillion 862 billion drams, with the revenue sector accounting for 101.3 percent of the projected amount. Notably, the volume of personal incomes has also seen a significant increase of 14.69 trillion compared to the previous year.

The Minister went on to affirm that there have been more achievements in urban planning than originally anticipated. This comes as positive news for the development and progress of Yerevan.
