The Ministry of Health in Armenia has released a statement regarding a tragic incident that occurred in the village of Surenavan. According to NEWS.am, a 7-year-old child lost their life on December 6, 2023, due to severe injuries. The child, on their way to school, encountered five aggressive dogs owned by residents of the village. Frightened, the child tried to escape towards a nearby building, but their foot got caught in a fence, causing them to fall into an irrigation canal and fatally hit their head on the concrete edge. The cause of death was determined to be accidental drowning. Investigations revealed stray dogs were a known issue in the area, and measures had been taken to address the problem. The incident has shed light on the need to regulate the presence of stray dogs and prevent similar attacks in Armenia.
