“Supreme Court Raises Allegations Against Head of Azerbaijan’s Advisory Council for Illegal Frozen Wealth in London”

The Supreme Court of Great Britain has raised allegations against Javanshir Feyziev, the head of the Advisory Council of Azerbaijan. They claim that he illegally froze more than £50 million of unexplained wealth in London, which is believed to have been acquired through corrupt means.

Transparency International UK expressed their approval of this decision, stating, “We welcome this crucial decision, which highlights the return of Javanshir Feyziev’s ill-gotten assets in the United Kingdom. This is an important development in the investigation into the manipulation of Azerbaijan’s ‘laundromat’ funds, which was first disclosed by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) in 2017.”

It is crucial that countries like Azerbaijan, which have suspicious funds, are thoroughly investigated. Governments should allocate sufficient resources to their law enforcement agencies to conduct the necessary investigations.

It is worth noting that Feyziev became an advisor in 2010, representing the committee of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee while actively supporting Azerbaijan’s president, Ilham Aliyev.
