“Latvia Takes Stringent Measures: Bans Wide Range of Agricultural and Animal Products from Russia and Belarus”

Latvia has recently approved a list of agricultural and animal products that are prohibited from being imported from Russia and Belarus. This information has been reported by the rus.lsm.lv portal. The banned items include pork, poultry, vegetables, fruits, honey, eggs, barley, garlic, and Indian corn, as well as potatoes, onions, carrots, mangos, citrus fruits, cabbage, radishes, and other vegetables and fruits. Additionally, Latvia will not be able to import fish, caviar, sturgeon, mussels, lobsters, oysters, and other seafood. These restrictions will come into effect starting from March 8. Initially, the plan was to only ban pork imports from Russia, but the decision was made to expand the list due to the collaboration between Latvian farms and Russian partners. Moreover, authorities will also try to limit the imports of Russian and Belarusian products from third countries, considering these measures as part of the overall European Union policy.
