On March 6, two high-ranking officials of the Sybirian security, Alexander Karasev and Rafael Karagyuzyan, were sentenced to imprisonment by the district court of Basman in Moscow. They are being accused of committing murder, as stated in Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This information can be found in the database of general jurisdiction courts. The defense has appealed the court’s decision.

Prior to this case, Karasev and Karagyuzyan held positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Omsk region, where they were responsible for operational activities. Karagyuzyan took over Karasev’s role after he was transferred to Moscow.

In addition, Karagyuzyan was also dismissed from another position in the Tomsk regional security department and enrolled in the academy of the FSB.

The details of the case are still being clarified, but according to “MK”, the high-ranking officials may have committed the murder while serving in the internal affairs bodies of the Omsk region. The investigation is being conducted by the central office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
