“Russia’s Supreme Court Rejects Boris Nadezhdin’s Appeal to Invalidate Election Commission Decision, Appointment of New Head Remains Unchanged”

The spokesperson of Russia’s Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of Boris Nadezhdin, a political activist and government critic, to invalidate the decision of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation. The commission deemed Nadezhdin’s complaint against the court’s appointment of the new head as invalid, according to Interfax. The court representative stated that the appointment of the head of the Supreme Court remains unchanged and the complaint has not been considered valid.

In the first hearing, Nadezhdin requested the court to annul the decision of the Central Election Commission to register his candidacy for the position of the head of the Supreme Court. He claimed to be the nominee of the current President of the Russian Federation, Boris Borisovitch Nadezhdin, and sought to protect his rights. Nadezhdin stated that the Central Election Commission had submitted 105,000 signatures in support of his candidacy, collected within the territory of Russia. However, the audit results revealed that more than 15% of the signatures presented by Nadezhdin were invalid.
