Minister of Education Attends “Achieving Success in Education” Workshop for English Teachers, Emphasizes Need for Support and Professional Development

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Andreyasyan, participated in the opening of the “Achieving Success in Education” workshop organized by the British Council’s Armenian branch. The workshop is specifically designed for English teachers. Alongside Andreyasyan, the event was attended by Karine Araqelyan, the head of the British Council branch in Armenia, Paul Morris, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Armenia, and Michael Connolly, the director of global English programs at the British Council.

The workshop was expected to have more than 800 English teachers in attendance, with a significant proportion coming from the provinces of Armenia. In his speech, Andreyasyan thanked the participants for their dedication and stressed the government’s commitment to meeting the needs of teachers through improved working conditions, competitive salaries, and supportive tools. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation and professional development to ensure the success of the education system.

Andreyasyan informed the audience about the upcoming introduction of a new professional development system, which will include English language teachers. He emphasized the necessity of effective coordination and adequate training to meet the demands of the educational process. The minister also emphasized the government’s role in providing support and organizing mechanisms for teachers’ preparation.

Recognizing the importance of education in shaping the future, Andreyasyan emphasized the challenges involved in implementing reforms. He stressed the need for systematic changes and early preparation for professional improvements. During the workshop, various topics were discussed, such as improving English language skills, cooperative learning in classrooms, vocabulary development, and the use of SMART projects in teaching.

Overall, the workshop provided a valuable platform for English teachers to exchange experiences and enhance their professional qualifications, with the government actively supporting their efforts in the realm of education.
