“Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Tobacco Trade: 218 Units Confiscated and Destroyed, Criminal Consequences Loom”

In the Republic’s territory, a total of 218 units of illegal cigarettes have been reported confiscated and destroyed. These include 68 packs, 6 small packages, 81 boxes, 3 jars, and 2 cartons. According to NEWS.am, in the capital city, 18 packs were confiscated and destroyed out of the 36 confiscated. The same number of packs were found and confiscated in other locations. Additionally, 2 small packages, 5 small alcohol bottles, and 2 boxes of cigarettes were confiscated. 11 packs, 3 small packages, 2 small alcohol bottles, and 1 box of cigarettes were destroyed. One jar was also destroyed.

The total number of confiscated and destroyed packs of cigarettes is 13, with 9 in Yerevan and 4 in the regions. One box, 8 small gas and air fresheners, and 4 bottles of alcohol were confiscated. It is important to note that in such cases, when authorities detect and confiscate cigarettes and tobacco products, there will be legal consequences. This is different for destruction actions. We should follow the example of those responsible and learn from their legal responses.

Meanwhile, evidence confirms that the detection and confiscation of cigarettes and tobacco products near residential areas are increasing, leading to criminal consequences.
