“Government Provides Housing Assistance to Displaced Armenians in Karabakh Region”

In the mountainous region of Karabakh, our compatriots who were displaced have been provided with housing assistance through a government program in three ways. First, assistance will be provided to build a residential house, secondly, assistance will be given to acquire a residential house or apartment, and thirdly, those individuals who cannot afford to acquire or build their own house due to financial reasons will be provided with the opportunity to live in social housing units, under certain conditions. This was announced by Davit Khachatryan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, during a press conference at Humantarian Center.

The program will provide each member of the family with 3 million Armenian Drams. In certain communities, both rural and urban, it will be possible to receive more support from the government.

According to Davit Khachatryan, the list of residential areas is currently being developed and will be published soon.

“After 10 years of living there, their ownership rights will be transferred to them. There is a provision that states within 10 years, individuals who are of working age, including minors, will be required to repay a certain amount, which will be determined according to the program. If within the 10-year period, the full amount is repaid, their ownership rights will be fully transferred. However, it should be noted that children who are underage will not bear any responsibility and their ownership rights will not be limited,” he said.

Certain restrictions will also apply to veterans and some social groups.

The housing assistance program can be used by those individuals who have Armenian citizenship.
