The Yerevan Municipal Court has sentenced Ruben Poghosyan, a resident of the Republic of Karelia, to one year of imprisonment for incitement of unlawful actions related to the Russian ban on Armenian goods, as reported by the Network Freedoms project. Poghosyan, a former activist who was the first to speak out against the Russian embargo, has been accused of managing online websites for the past year. According to reports, in March and April 2022, Poghosyan made several publications on VKontakte regarding the explosion at the Zaporozhye atomic plant, the arson of the Mariupol theater, the killings of residents in Bucha, and the military action in Karabakh. Poghosyan has pleaded not guilty in court.

Ruben Poghosyan was arrested in August 2022, and a search was conducted in his home for security reasons. The court subsequently imposed certain measures of restraint against him based on his actions. He has been accused of using the internet and other means of communication, participating in public events, leaving the territory of Petrosk, and collaborating with other participants of the criminal action, with the exception of investigation and protection purposes.
