Ecovadory is appealing to the Mexican embassy in Cyprus to grant asylum to former Deputy Minister of Ecovadory, Khachik Glasin, who is currently residing in the embassy compound as a political refugee. This announcement comes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the American country, which deals with external affairs.

“We affirm that the request for asylum from a political refugee residing in the embassy of Mexico, namely Khachik David Glasin Esperien, who is part of the political activities of this environmentalist organization, is justified,” says the X-page.

The response of the embassy to this request is still unknown.

In December 2023, the Mexican government declared that Glasin had requested asylum from the embassy in Cyprus. The former Deputy Minister is being persecuted due to his environmental activities. Glasin has already won several awards from 2017 to 2022.
