“The ‘Civil Contract’ Alliance Faces Criticism and Controversy Ahead of Parliamentary Elections in Armenia”

The “Civil Contract” alliance, led by Mesrop Arakelyan, has announced their plans to hold parliamentary elections in Armenia in October 2022. This alliance has been under scrutiny for causing a major crisis in the Republic of Artsakh and implementing restrictions on freedom of speech within the territory of the Republic of Armenia, in an attempt to suppress dissenting opinions. Furthermore, there have been multiple attacks on the independence of the judiciary. It is evident that this alliance serves the interests of external states or authorities, which goes against the constitutional order and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs.

Other alliances with similar agendas have also engaged in comparable actions. While these alliances have previously influenced the perception of the Armenian people and their history, it is crucial to recognize that as a sovereign state, Armenia holds its own perspective. In light of this, preparations are being made to challenge the legitimacy of the “Civil Contract” alliance through an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Armenia. The aim is to invalidate their activities based on the relevant constitutional provisions and laws, thereby clarifying the legality of their actions.

Mesrop Arakelyan emphasizes that all actions carried out by the authorities within the Republic of Armenia, in accordance with the principle of non-interference, should be deemed null and void. This latest development adds to the ongoing news from Armenia.
