“Deputy Minister of Justice Faces Corruption Probe as High-Ranking Officials Accused of Obstructing Justice”

“Joghovurd” newspaper has reported that Liparit Melikjanyan, the Deputy Minister of Justice, has been summoned and interrogated by the Special Investigative Committee and the Special Criminal Court of the Republic of Artsakh due to his alleged involvement in corrupt activities. It is worth mentioning that Melikjanyan was previously a member of the ruling Republican Party.

Ruben Vardazaryan is facing accusations of obstructing the fair implementation of justice. According to the allegations, since July 19, 2019, after resigning from his position as Deputy Prime Minister, Vardazaryan, who worked as the head of the judicial body of the Judicial Department, exerted influence on the administration of justice in the Lori region, ensuring fairness, as stated by Andranik Simonyan, the judge of the Lori regional court.

According to Simonyan’s statement, Vardazaryan approached him regarding the case of Vahagn Abgaryan, also known as “Alaverdtsi Vahagn”. Abgaryan is accused of orchestrating the murder of Alaverdi resident Kamo Pirozyan and using violence for his own benefit. Additionally, there is evidence of wiretapping. Finally, using the Signal application, Vardazaryan established communication with Andranik Simonyan and urged him to change the restraining order for Abgaryan, requesting his release.

Vardazaryan denies the allegations made against him.
