“US Concerned Over Turkey’s Ambitions in Artsakh, But Silent on Armenian Expulsion: Geopolitics Expert”

The US has made a declaration stating that Iran will not be permitted to enter Artsakh, while Turkey, on the other hand, is entering Artsakh to fulfill their own ambitions. Dr. Artur Khachikyan, a professor of geopolitics at Stanford University, discussed this matter in an interview with NEWS.am. He pointed out that when the Armenians were expelled from Artsakh, the US did not voice any concerns, but now they are worried about the absence of Iran and Russia. Khachikyan emphasized that this is not just an environmental issue, but a military issue affecting the Middle East. He also highlighted the question of whether Turkey and Azerbaijan should unite and expand their territory. Khachikyan believes that Turkey aims to be present in Iran and suggested different scenarios involving the region’s geography. He stressed the importance of finding a middle ground in order to achieve stability and attract investments from Turkey and Azerbaijan.

In the case of a war between Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, Khachikyan speculated that the US, Great Britain, France, and possibly even Russia could come to Iran’s aid. However, he expressed doubt about Russia’s ability to assist Iran. Khachikyan further acknowledged the growing military potential of Turkey and Azerbaijan compared to Armenia’s diminishing power. He mentioned that Armenia considers both Russia and Iran as potential allies and that there are no conflicts of interest with either of them. However, he also expressed concern that the international community would turn a blind eye to any military action in Armenia, particularly in the region of Syunik. Khachikyan stressed the need for vigilance in such circumstances.
