“Covveri aigue Market: Calm Prevails, but Advertisers remain Interested, says Yerevan Official”

The interest of advertisers continues in the Armenian section of Yerevan’s “Covveri aigue” market, according to Hakob Sevan, a member of the Public Council of the Yerevan City Court. In an interview with NEWS.am on January 22, Sevan stated that active informational work is being done to clarify the meaning of the “Covveri aigue” designation. Currently, the situation in the market is calm with no new developments, Sevan added.

Two weeks ago, it was reported that the previously relocated technicum of Yerevan’s “Covveri aigue” market was demolished. However, since the last rally on December 28, no demonstrations have been registered. It is worth noting that during that rally, armed individuals attacked Armenians present in the Armenian section of the market using axes, Molotov cocktails, and other weapons.

The disagreement over the decision to rent the territory of the “Covveri aigue” market for 99 years has caused a severe dispute, which escalated as a result of a prolonged struggle. As a response, the builders of the company, who had rented the disputed territory, began demolishing a part of it. When demonstrators tried to stop these actions, they faced resistance from Syrian mercenaries who had previously attempted to attack the demonstrators without success.
