Armenia Braces for Severe Winter Storm: Cyclone to Bring Heavy Snow and Freezing Temperatures

A cyclone approaching from the northwest is set to bring heavy snowfall to different regions in Armenia on the evening of January 22nd and throughout the day on the 23rd. The affected areas include Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik. The Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center predicts that the snowfall will become more intense with wind speeds reaching 14-18 m/s, resulting in blizzard conditions and challenging road conditions. The Department of Hydrometeorological Research and Monitoring states that the air temperature will decrease by 7-9 degrees Celsius on January 22nd and even further by 14-16 degrees Celsius in Lori, Tavush, and Syunik on January 23rd. In Yerevan, the capital city, the weather will be partly cloudy on the evening of January 22nd and mostly cloudy with snow showers on the 23rd.
