Explosion rocks CSTO cache in Yerevan’s 7th district, one dead and several injured

A distress call was received by the National Crisis Management Center on January 18 at 22:16, reporting an explosion near the 7th district of Yerevan at the CSTO cache. Fortunately, there was only one civilian injured in the incident.

According to the RA NSS Rescue Service, the Crisis Management Group of the RA NSS Rescue Service was promptly informed about the incident. This group is responsible for coordinating the rescue and emergency personnel of the Yerevan city administration and determining the characteristics of rescue operations.

It appears that two vehicles, a “Toyota” driven by A. M. (born in 1999) and a “BMW” driven by H. A. (born in 2001), were involved in the explosion near the intersection of David Bek and Hovhannes Avetisyan streets. The “BMW” was immobilized as a result of the incident.

Prior to the arrival of rescuers, the drivers and a passenger in the “Toyota” identified as B. D. (born in 1999) were taken to a medical center for evaluation of their condition, which was determined to be satisfactory.

The rescuers successfully neutralized the vehicles, closed the gas valve, and managed to remove G. M. (born in 1969), the passenger in the “BMW,” from the immobilization. They provided him with first aid, however, he was tragically pronounced dead.

Lastly, the rescuers carried out road clearing operations to ensure the safety of the area.
