Yerevan Mayor Calls for Compensation to Companies in Circular Economy as Global Trend Recognized

All Companies in Circular Economy Should be Compensated, Says Yerevan Mayor

During a recent press conference on the circular economy, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan emphasized the need for compensation for companies involved in the cycle. He suggested that the compensation should be provided either by the government or by the municipality. Marutyan highlighted the importance of recognizing the circular economy as a global trend and mentioned that there are 10 objects in the fourth part of the cycle that need to be recovered. He also pointed out that the municipality is not obliged to provide services to these companies in other areas, except for the tenants of the landfill.

In response to a journalist’s question about the transfer of one area to another, Armenian Prime Minister Hayk Konstantinian explained that the cycle involves the organization of intermediaries. He clarified that the goal is not to take from one company and give to another, but rather to create a cycle of value among all participants. Konstantinian mentioned that “Green Rock” has already been successful in creating business value and reiterated that the tenants are still generating business value.

The circular economy is gaining recognition globally, and Yerevan is taking steps to support and compensate companies involved in this trend. As the cycle continues to evolve, it is crucial to acknowledge the efforts of intermediaries and ensure they are adequately rewarded for their contributions. Whether through government or municipal support, the importance of compensation cannot be overlooked in building a sustainable circular economy.

It is worth noting that the municipality’s obligation to provide services to companies involved in the cycle is limited to the tenants of the landfill. This exception demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to managing waste in an environmentally responsible manner. By recognizing and addressing the unique needs of these tenants, Yerevan is furthering its efforts in promoting a circular economy.

As discussions around the circular economy continue, it is important to consider the role of intermediaries in facilitating the cycle. Rather than simply transferring resources from one company to another, the goal is to create a value chain that benefits all participants. By recognizing the organization and efforts of intermediaries, Yerevan is setting an example for other cities and countries to embrace the circular economy and support the companies involved.
