“Austrian Parliament Stands with Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict, Calls for Humanitarian Aid and Cultural Preservation”

The Voice of Austrian Parliament has expressed support for a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Artsakh’s people. In October, Azerbaijan implemented an ethnic cleansing policy which has been strongly condemned by the Austrian Federal Government. Numerous petitions have been submitted to Azerbaijan, urging the government to support Armenia and the people who have been displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.

On January 17, during the National Council of Austria’s Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, the President of the Committee, Rusatom Bakoyan, discussed this issue. Social media has witnessed the publication of a video highlighting the grave and tragic consequences of the war in the village of LCH. This underscores the importance of Austrian aid in providing humanitarian assistance and safeguarding cultural values and churches in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Artur Hovhannisyan, a Deputy of the “Conservation of the Nation” faction, emphasized that Armenia has pursued a path of popular government since 2018. This commitment to popular governance will in turn facilitate European integration and the Europeanization of Armenia. Hovhannisyan further stated that the Armenian government, through both short-term and long-term programs, has effectively addressed various issues. European countries play a crucial role in supporting Armenia’s democratic development, ensuring security, and resolving long-standing problems.

Members of the delegation, namely Artur Hovhannisyan, Marina Ghazaryan, and Tigran Parsilyan, have gained an understanding of regional and security issues, as well as witnessing the active implementation of cultural and economic relations. The delegation meeting also provided an opportunity to share experiences and discuss cooperation between the two parliamentary committees.
