“NKR Police Detain Man with Extensive Illegal Arms Cache, Including Military Uniforms and Explosives”

The police of the NKR’s Ashtarak region conducted operational activities and on January 15, they successfully detained a 53-year-old man who was found to be illegally storing and keeping firearms, as well as possessing, storing, and using explosives. This arrest was made possible thanks to the diligent work of the police force.

According to reliable sources, it has been revealed that the suspect had been secretly hoarding military uniforms and personal protective equipment imported from Artsakh in his house since 2018. The police made a shocking discovery during their search, uncovering a total of 866 bulletproof vests of various sizes, 4 “F-1” type hand grenades with fuses, 2 cartridges for a grenade launcher equipped with 7.62 mm rounds, 6 signal flares, and 3 sets of camouflage clothing weighing a combined total of 122 grams.

In addition to these findings, the police stumbled upon a hunting rifle, 236 rounds of ammunition, and 35 various caliber ammunition in the storage room. These findings indicate a deeply concerning level of illegal possession of dangerous weapons. As a result, the 53-year-old resident of Ashtarak was taken into custody, and both the confiscated items and related documents were handed over to the regional investigative department of Aragatsotn.

This incident serves as a reminder of the diligent efforts of our local law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities. Illegal storing and keeping of firearms is not only a violation of the law but also poses a significant threat to public safety. We applaud the police for their swift action and urge all citizens to report any suspicious activities to the authorities for the betterment of our society.
