“Armenia and European Union Reaffirm Commitment to Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement”

Today, representatives from the European Union (EU) delegation, the EU mission, and the government of the Republic of Armenia gathered for a meeting dedicated to the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in 2017. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the significance of Armenia-EU relations, evaluate the progress made in the implementation of the agreement, and explore opportunities for further cooperation.

The meeting saw the participation of 70 individuals who actively engaged in discussions and exchanged views among the stakeholders. Detailed reports on the progress of CEPA implementation were presented, providing insights into the achievements, challenges, needs, and opportunities for stronger collaboration.

Throughout the meeting, special attention was given to various sectors that demonstrated successful changes under the CEPA. These achievements were made possible through careful examination, coordination, and support from both the government and civil society, overcoming challenges along the way. The representatives emphasized the importance of effectively implementing the agreement as it strengthens the common values and benefits of the Armenia-EU partnership.

Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, commended the government’s efforts in implementing the CEPA despite the difficulties and challenges faced. Wiktorin expressed gratitude for the commitment to upholding human rights, the rule of law, and implementing reforms. The Ambassador reaffirmed the EU’s support for Armenia’s continued progress in implementing necessary reforms.

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who also serves as the co-chair of the Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee, highlighted Armenia’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with the EU and emphasized the importance of advancing reforms without delay. Grigoryan underscored the value of the knowledge and experience gained during the current stage of Armenia’s development, recognizing the role of the EU as a valuable partner in the country’s progress.

In a demonstration of their commitment to the successful implementation of Armenia-EU cooperation priorities, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding, solidifying their shared willingness to provide support.
