Welcome to the National Assembly of Armenia, where the relations between Armenia and the Arab League are developing dynamically. The cooperation between the parliaments of both countries holds great potential. The recently signed memorandum of cooperation will elevate the relations to a new level. On January 16, a meeting took place between Sargis Khachatryan, the President of the External Relations Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia, and Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi, the Head of the Arab League’s Department of Economic Cooperation and External Relations, as reported by NEWS.am.

The meeting witnessed the presence of members from the National Assembly’s Foreign Relations Committee, including Maria Karapetyan, Edward Aghajanyan, Hripsime Hovhannisyan, Gurgen Arsenyan, and Lena Nazaryan.

Sargis Khachatryan highlighted the importance of simplifying the visa process for citizens of Armenia and the Arab League, as it would support citizen diplomacy between the two nations. He also handed out invitations to several members of the Arab League’s Department of International Relations, who will be participating in events in the Armenia-Azerbaijan border region, despite the challenging circumstances. Despite the difficulties, Armenia remains hopeful that peace and stability will prevail in the region, and is actively working towards that goal. Sargis Khachatryan also addressed the situation of the Armenian community living in the Lachin Gorge of the Republic of Artsakh, following the ethnic cleansing policy of the Azerbaijani authorities.

The Armenian parliamentarians expressed their gratitude to the guests, emphasized the need for increased cooperation in various fields, and presented the “Roadmap to Peace” initiative.

In response, Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and shared the Arab League’s efforts to organize discussions with representatives from several countries to resolve disagreements. He stressed that cooperation with the Arab League would contribute to the enhancement of relations.
