Mayor of Yerevan Announces Social Program Worth Millions to Revitalize Distressed Areas

An investor offering 8-9 million dollars without a requirement for an exclusive business component in distressed areas is yet to be seen. The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, emphasized the significance of this social program during his visit to the training grounds of the “Ararat” football club in Yerevan’s Nubarashen district on January 15. Avinyan highlighted the importance of revitalizing public areas and neighborhoods through the investment of large sums of money, providing much-needed services. He expressed his love for the Ararat football club and stressed the need to rejuvenate the surrounding areas near the railroad tracks and Gedara, considering it a national asset.

Avinyan acknowledged the value of the feedback and complaints received and emphasized the importance of restoring public areas in the country. He mentioned the ongoing renovation of the Ararat club and his plans to expand the small tennis courts. Avinyan emphasized the need to build proper tennis courts for the players in Yerevan. He also dismissed the notion that certain individuals were gathering for political gains, stating that they would not be received.

Previously, Factor.am had reported that the tennis courts worth AMD 254 million were gifted to Yerevan without a competition, which led to public opinion branding it as a corruption scandal.
