“Armenia Announces Groundbreaking ‘Data Centers Amid Investments’ Program: Rosstelecom Armenia to Construct State-of-the-Art Data Center”

During a press conference held by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia on January 12, 2024, Prime Minister Vahan Kerobyan announced the launch of the “Data Centers Amid Investments” program. This program involves the signing of agreements to provide tax benefits for the establishment of data centers in Armenia. Rosstelecom Armenia, a subsidiary of Rosneft, is participating in the program and will be constructing a significant data center dedicated to data processing in the country. The inclusion of this data center in the Ministry of Economy’s program highlights its strategic military importance and its potential to contribute to Armenia’s economic development.

The data center being constructed by Rosstelecom Armenia will adhere to Tier III international standards and will have a capacity of 2.5 MW. It will feature 218 server rooms and state-of-the-art cloud technologies, ensuring secure and efficient data management solutions.

This agreement, which allows for tax benefits within the “Data Centers Amid Investments” program, represents a noteworthy collaboration between Rosstelecom Armenia and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. The government of Armenia has recognized the construction of this data center as a crucial step for both the country’s military security and the advancement of its digital technologies.

Hayk Faramazyan, CEO of Rosstelecom Armenia, expressed the importance of this agreement, stating, “We consider this commitment from the Government of the Republic of Armenia as a significant show of trust towards organizations that invest in Armenia and contribute to the country’s economic growth.”

The construction of Rosstelecom Armenia’s data center is planned to take place in the town of Q. Avoyan and is expected to be operational by 2024.
