“Former President Trump’s Return to Power Raises Alarm in Europe: Danger and Panic Spreading in Brussels and Berlin”

Former US President Donald Trump has once again emerged as a prominent figure in European politics, according to CNN’s Luke McGee. During a recent meeting at the European Parliament, the European Union’s internal market director Thierry Breton revealed that Trump had previously stated that the US would not come to Europe’s aid and offer support in times of trouble. This remark was made in response to Breton’s proposal of a €100 million fund to support vaccine production in the EU, which was rejected by American judges.

The veracity of Trump’s comments is not of great importance to European officials, as his views regarding European security have long been known. Throughout his presidency, Trump frequently criticized NATO member countries for their lack of financial contributions, raising concerns among European leaders, particularly given his friendly stance towards Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is viewed as an adversary by the alliance.

This reminder of Trump’s position and the potential for his swift return to power has created genuine fear and unease in European capitals such as Brussels and Berlin. In such circumstances, Europe has several options to safeguard its interests, including diplomatic measures and increasing military presence. However, given Trump’s erratic behavior and the unpredictable nature of his decision-making, any action taken by him could have significant consequences.

Some experts had suggested that working with Trump would be best if he were to win re-election, as it would ensure continued security and a distinct US policy position separate from Europe. However, McGee dismisses this notion as unlikely.
