Mass Hunger and Riots Grip Gas Complex: MEC Official Raises Alarm on Dire Situation

In a recent report by CNN, a high-ranking official from the MEC highlighted the dire situation in the Gas complex, where people are hungry and riots have erupted on the streets. The Prime Minister and the head of the emergency assistance system, Martin Grifits, expressed their grave concern about the rapidly spreading hunger, which has surpassed the boundaries of the Gas complex. The MEC Humantarian Coordination Office also revealed that Israel is not allowing important supplies to reach the Gas complex, making it even more difficult to alleviate the crisis. Grifits criticized Israel’s political system for causing the displacement of people from their homes due to armed operations, leading to further suffering and casualties.

According to the MEC’s data on humanitarian assistance and coordination, nearly 1.9 million people, which accounts for 85% of the population of Gas, have been forced to leave their homes, with many of them being displaced. Despite the ongoing crisis, Grifits reminded MEC AH members about the progress in the peace negotiations with Israel. However, he also emphasized the devastating impact of AH’s operations on October 7, resulting in 1,200 deaths, thousands of injuries, and hundreds of displaced people, as well as shocking incidents of sexual violence.

Alongside these developments, news from Armenia shows the urgency of the situation in the Gas complex and the surrounding areas. People’s hunger and the riots in the streets have created a striking and distressing image. The MEC Security Council members shared their concern on Friday, representing the views of the Prime Minister and the head of the emergency assistance system, Martin Grifits. The hunger crisis is spreading rapidly beyond the boundaries of the Gas complex, causing immense suffering and chaos.

Israel’s refusal to allow important supplies to reach the Gas complex has further exacerbated the situation. The MEC Humantarian Coordination Office reported on Friday that their teams are struggling to deliver much-needed assistance due to the colossal state of chaos. Grifits emphasized the difficulties in reaching Khan Yunes, a clear indication of the immense challenges faced by relief efforts in the area.

Grifits also criticized Israel’s political system for its role in displacing people from their homes through armed operations. This displacement has forced people to move to smaller areas, exacerbating their suffering and increasing casualties. According to the MEC’s data on humanitarian assistance and coordination, nearly 1.9 million people, comprising 85% of the Gas population, have been forced to leave their homes, with many facing displacement.

While Grifits acknowledged the progress in the peace negotiations with Israel, he reminded MEC AH members not to forget about the devastating consequences of AH’s operations on October 7. The operations resulted in the loss of 1,200 lives, thousands of injuries, and hundreds of displaced individuals. Additionally, shocking incidents of sexual violence have further exacerbated the already dire situation.

Amidst these reports, news from Armenia continues to highlight the urgency of the crisis in the Gas complex and its devastating impact on the local population. The images of hunger and riots on the streets serve as a powerful reminder of the desperate need for assistance and a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict.
