“Controversial Proposal: MP Accuses Hak Sargsyan of Political Maneuver to Divert Attention from Demands”

Independent MP Hakob Aghazaryan has accused Hak Sargsyan, the head of the National Security Service, of using a political move to divert attention from the demands of the people. Aghazaryan made this statement during a session of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and Protection of Human Rights and Security Issues of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. He argued that military servicemen who have served in the armed forces for 27 years and have no alternative civil service opportunity should be given the option to perform alternative civil service while paying the corresponding amounts to the state budget. Aghazaryan raised concerns about the potential consequences of allowing individuals to buy their way out of military service.

In response to criticism from the defense department, Aghazaryan defended his ideological organization, Armenia’s vigorous and peaceful struggle, and international political issues. According to a report by NEWS.am, citizens who have completed their 27 years of compulsory military service and have no alternative civil service opportunity may be offered several options. They can serve alternative civil service for 24 months, serve alternative civil service for 12 months and pay 2.5 million drams, serve alternative civil service for 6 months and pay 5 million drams, serve alternative civil service for 1 month and pay 10 million drams, or choose not to perform alternative civil service and pay 15 million drams.

These proposed changes have sparked debate and discussion. While some argue that offering alternative civil service with corresponding payments will provide individuals with more choices and flexibility, others are concerned that it could undermine the importance of military service. The potential consequences and implications of these changes are being carefully examined, as they could have a significant impact on the country’s national security.

This news from Armenia sheds light on the ongoing discussions surrounding alternative civil service and its potential impact on military service. It is a complex issue that requires careful consideration and deliberation. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how these proposed changes will be received by the public and what impact they will have on the country’s defense system.
