Armenia Implements New Measures to Combat Pandemic and Boost Economy

Armenia has taken the decision to implement restrictions in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic. During a parliamentary meeting of the standing committee on territorial administration and local self-government in the National Assembly, Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan announced on January 10 that changes will be made to the state budget to allocate funding for additional work and the creation of new jobs in the service provision sector. These jobs will be available to residents who pay fees for service provision and who have had their business projects approved by management.

The main objective is to ensure that the main social guarantees, which are in place during the state of emergency, are not suspended when it comes to mandatory measures to combat the pandemic. “As part of this program, at least 4 organizations have already benefited from the restrictions starting from January 10,” stated Janjughazyan.

Subsequent discussions within the parliamentary committee have acknowledged the positive progress in terms of everyday arrangements and the fulfillment of respective tasks.
