“Israeli Military Operations Against Hamas Strains Eastern Mediterranean Gas Fields, Squeezing Residents in Gaza”

Gas residents in a neighborhood are feeling the pressure as Israeli forces continue their operations against Hamas in the Palestinian enclave. The Wall Street Journal reports that the gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean are facing strain due to the increasing production demands of the Israeli military. The territory available for residents living in the gas fields has decreased from 2.2 million inhabitants to less than two-thirds. Currently, Israel is urging the residents of the gas-stricken regions to evacuate.

Based on data from Israeli authorities, the report states that around 1.9 million residents of the gas fields, accounting for 85% of the population, have been forced to leave their homes. In the Raffah region, which is located in the gas field, there are currently over one million displaced individuals, compared to the previous population of 275,000.

It was announced by the chief coordinator of the Israeli military, Stefano Della Rocca, that Israeli intelligence services have informed them that 1.1 million evacuees from the gas fields need to be relocated. Della Rocca also revealed that Hamas militants have been found hiding within residential areas in Gaza City, including underground tunnels and civilian buildings. The demand to evacuate also extends to “all employees of the military and their families who live in territories controlled by Hamas.” It is expected that the available territory for residents in the gas fields will continue to shrink.
