The issue of recognizing Armenian driving licenses in the Russian Federation is currently a topic of discussion between both sides. The Republic of Armenia’s response to Sputnik Armenia’s official inquiry has emphasized the importance of national recognition of driver’s licenses based on international transport regulations. This recognition is crucial for carrying out commercial activities using national driver’s licenses as a basis,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Recent reports have indicated that the Russian government has decided to extend the deadline for the re-certification of Armenian drivers in Russia. This extension comes alongside discussions regarding the recognition of Armenian driver’s licenses as part of the re-certification plan being implemented.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has previously highlighted that the rejection of recognition for Armenian driver’s licenses in Russia contradicts the principles of the European economic union. This union is based on the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor.
