“Rescue Service Issues Warning: Closed and Difficult Roads in Armenia Affecting Travel Plans”

The Rescue service has informed that there are closed and difficult-to-pass roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Starting from January 15, due to road repair works, the 38-40 km section of the M-6 highway connecting Vanadzor-Alaverdi will be closed for the movement of buses, trucks, or heavy vehicles. However, a bypass road will be available through the city of Nowemberyan.

In addition to this, the roads leading from Aragatsotn province to the “Amberd” high-altitude meteorological station and the roads to Lake Qari Lich are also closed. These closures may pose challenges for travelers in those areas.

Furthermore, the Vardenyats Pass is presently difficult to pass for trucks due to the presence of fog. It is strongly advised for drivers to use tire chains to enhance traction and ensure safety while navigating through this section.

Moreover, the section known as the “Honey Road” is currently covered in snow. Motorists should exercise caution and adapt their driving to the conditions to avoid any potential accidents or delays.

According to the information received from the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Embassy in Armenia, the Stepanakert-Lars highway is temporarily closed for trucks. This closure may impact the transportation of goods and services in the region.

Considering the frosty conditions prevailing in Armenia, drivers are strongly advised to exercise caution when driving. By adhering to safety protocols, such as reducing speed, allowing sufficient braking distance, and using lights appropriately, motorists can minimize the risk of accidents and ensure the safety of themselves and other road users.
