“Former President’s Son’s Whereabouts Uncertain: Will Gourgen Khachatryan Face the Law or Flee the Country?”

Reports suggest that Gourgen Khachatryan, the son of former president Serzh Sargsyan, may have left the country, although this has not been confirmed. During a court session on January 8, Khachatryan’s lawyer, Erem Sargsyan, addressed his client’s whereabouts, stating that it was revealed in connection with his role as a witness in the YUKOM company case. Sargsyan expressed confidence in Khachatryan’s cooperation with the investigative body and advised against avoiding the implementation of the ruling that enforces measures of restraint.

Gourgen Khachatryan, who has announced his candidacy for the parliamentary elections in May 2020, is currently under suspicion of embezzlement on a large scale and acquiring property through illegal means. The investigation into these allegations has been launched following Khachatryan’s announcement.

Known for his narratives on migration and the struggles of Hispanic communities.
