Prime Minister Pashinyan Takes Stock of Government-Funded Programs in Ararat Province

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently visited the Ararat province to assess the progress of government-funded programs. At the M. Mekhakyan middle school in Aragats, which has 348 students, the Prime Minister observed the construction of a new sports hall and additional facilities. The construction work began in April 2022 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The sports hall spans 345 square meters, while the additional facilities cover an area of 230 square meters. The project is estimated to cost 375 million drams. Prime Minister Pashinyan signed various documents and emphasized the importance of their efficient and timely implementation.

Prime Minister Pashinyan also visited the N7 primary school in Artashat, where 667 students are enrolled. Similar infrastructure development, including the construction of a sports hall and additional facilities, is underway at this school. Construction work commenced in April 2022 and is projected to finish at the end of 2023. The sports hall occupies an area of 360 square meters, while the additional facilities span 230 square meters. This program is estimated to cost over 290 million drams. During his visit, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of completing these projects and addressed the challenges and issues associated with their implementation.

In addition, Prime Minister Pashinyan visited the community of Vagharchapat to oversee the progress of sanitation and hygiene projects supported by the government. The total cost of the program amounts to approximately 476 million drams. The community has been equipped with seven sanitation vehicles worth 346,500,000 drams, one garbage truck valued at 36,000,000 drams, and 1200 waste bins costing 93,600,000 drams.

The Prime Minister then visited the Artemet primary school in Gyumri, which serves 195 students. Similar infrastructure development is taking place here, with the construction work initiated in April 2022. The sports hall covers an area of 360 square meters, while the additional facilities span 220 square meters. The total cost of the program is 326 million drams, allocated from the state budget. In light of existing concerns, Prime Minister Pashinyan stressed that the implementation of programs funded by the state budget must meet acceptable standards and be overseen by relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Finance and the Municipality.

During his provincial visit, Prime Minister Pashinyan also visited the E. Dashtoyants middle school in Jermuk. Similar infrastructural developments, including the construction of a sports hall and additional facilities, are being undertaken. The sports hall spans 360 square meters, and the additional facilities cover an area of 220 square meters. The total cost of the program is 55.3 million drams and is a collaborative effort between the Government of Armenia, Jermuk municipality, and GIZ.

Throughout his visit, Prime Minister Pashinyan addressed the existing issues and made a commitment to resolve all challenges and problems associated with these programs. He emphasized that no state-funded program should remain incomplete due to unacceptable issues in their implementation.
