“Emergency Service Issues Warning: Closed and Treacherous Roads Across Armenia”

Emergency service reports indicate that there are currently closed and difficult-to-pass roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. One such road, the M-6 Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway, will undergo repair works until February 15. This stretch of road will be closed for approximately 38-40 km for the movement of buses and trucks, as well as for the loading and unloading of trucks with a trailer or semi-trailer. To ensure uninterrupted transportation, a temporary bypass road has been established through the city of Noemberyan.

In addition, certain roads leading from the Argavand region to Amberd highland and from Dzoraget-Lake Qari will be closed due to difficult weather conditions and for the transportation of loaded trucks. Motorists are advised to use snow chains in these areas. Snow-covered road sections can also be found in Gegharkunik province, Ararat, Ashotsk district, Mastara-Lanjik, and Sisian-“Zangers”, making driving conditions challenging.

From information received from the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Southern regional center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, it is understood that the Stepanakert-Larse road is closed for trucks. With heavy snowfall affecting the region, drivers are urged to exercise caution while on the roads.
