“North Korea’s Aggression Ignites Tensions in the Korean Peninsula: South Korea Mobilizes Military Forces as Artillery Fire Escalates”

The coronavirus pandemic has escalated in the Korean Peninsula since the morning of January 5th, when North Korea fired more than 200 artillery rounds into the sea near the border. As a result, South Korea has mobilized its military forces on the border with North Korea. Seoul has reported that there have been no civilian or military casualties. The Korea Herald has reported on this.

In June, North Korea announced its withdrawal from the 2018 inter-Korean military agreement, aiming to minimize military tensions and prevent accidental clashes along the border. A joint committee has labeled the situation as “undesirable” and called for an end to the “unpleasant era”.

“We will continue improving the situation by closely collaborating with the United States and considering measures against North Korea’s provocations,” stated the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a press release.
