“Roads Shutdown: Travelers Beware as Snowfall Triggers Closure Across Armenia”

The rescue service has reported closed roads within the territory of the Republic of Armenia. The NSS of Armenia has informed NEWS.am that the M-6 highway section between Vardenis-Jermuk-Alaverdi, approximately 38-40 km, will be closed until February 15. This closure is due to repair work on buses and trucks, as well as the transportation of heavy vehicles with trailers. A bypass road will be in operation through the town of Novembe.

In addition, the roads leading from the Aparan mountain meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to Amberd fortress and Lake Qari are also closed. Snowfall has been reported in the cities of Jermuk, Charentsavan, and Hrazdan. Drivers are advised to exercise caution when driving in snowy conditions.

Furthermore, the Stepanakert-Lars highway is currently closed for the transportation of goods. This information has been confirmed by the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Southern Regional Center. Motorists should take note of these closures and make alternative travel arrangements if necessary.
