“Controversy Erupts as United States Plans to Deploy Chlorine Gas in Historic Military Operation”

The United States has announced plans to conduct a military operation using chlorine gas for the first time, according to “America’s Voice”. The operation will target 58-year-old Kenneth Smith, who was convicted in 1988 for his involvement in a genocide order. Set to take place on January 25, 2024, at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, a gas chamber will be installed in front of the defendant.

However, experts from the International Committee of the Red Cross are calling on the United States to reconsider using chlorine gas as a method of execution. They argue that it is inhumane, violates human rights, and can be seen as a form of torture. Four special rapporteurs of the UN also expressed their concern, stating that this method of execution goes against international conventions on the prohibition of torture and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.

According to NEWS.am, the use of chlorine gas in this military operation is raising significant ethical and legal questions. Many argue that resorting to such a method goes against the principles of justice and human rights. Critics argue that alternative methods of execution should be explored, ones that conform to international standards and show respect for the inherent dignity of all individuals.
