“1833 Occupation: Argentina reasserts claim to Falkland Islands, calls for peaceful resolution”

On January 3, 1833, Great Britain occupied the Malvinas (Falkland) Islands, which Argentina has considered part of its territory since gaining independence. The Argentine Foreign Ministry has made it clear that this decision by the British government goes against international law and has never been accepted by Argentina.

Argentina’s goal, in accordance with international law, is to recover these territories that are rightfully theirs. The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged for bilateral negotiations to resolve the issue and to avoid any unilateral actions that could disrupt peaceful coexistence in the region.

On the other hand, the management of the Falkland Islands has expressed their willingness to engage in bilateral negotiations once again. This situation remains a topic of interest internationally.
