Russian President Putin Offers Condolences to Iran’s Leadership Following Deadly Explosion in Kerma

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to Iran’s Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi following the recent events in the city of Kerma in Iran, where more than a hundred people have lost their lives, according to the latest data.

The “Interfax” news agency reports that a statement was posted on the Kremlin’s website, saying, “Accept our sincere condolences for the tragic consequences of the explosion that occurred in the city of Kerma, which claimed the lives of innocent residents and servicemen.”

Putin has called for “an immediate transfer of condolences and assistance to the families of the victims and the wounded, as well as a swift resolution of all legal matters related to this disaster,” according to the statement.

Protests against the recent Islamic revolution in Kerma have been gaining momentum since Wednesday. The former commander of the special forces division “Al-Kuds,” General Qasem Soleimani, who was assassinated in Baghdad on January 3, 2020 by US military forces, was commemorated in the city of Soleimani, near Kerman, on the anniversary of his death. Iran’s intelligence services believe that the protests were organized.
