“World’s Population Breaks Record: Over 8 Billion People and Counting!”

In 2023, the world’s population hit a record high of 8,073,859,407 people, as reported by the German Foundation for World Population (DSW). The global population has been steadily increasing and reached a new peak in 2023, with growth rates on the rise. According to DSW data, the fastest population growth occurred between 1965 and 1970, but since then, the growth rate has doubled.

However, these population trends are not uniform across all regions. DSW predicts that Africa’s population will surpass 2.5 billion by 2080, more than double its current population. Meanwhile, the United States has seen its population rise to 75 million, accounting for 0.95% of the world’s population, according to the Census Bureau.

It took the world 12 and a half years to reach the 8 billion mark from 7 billion, compared to the 25 years it took to reach the previous billion milestone. Projections indicate that the American population is expected to take 14.1 years to reach 9 billion and 16.4 years to surpass 10 billion, potentially occurring around 2055.
