“Russian Government Announces Quota of 155,000 Visas for Migrant Workers in 2024: A Bold Step towards Labor Protection and Social Welfare”

The Russian government has announced the implementation of a quota system for migrant workers in 2024 as part of its labor and social protection policy. According to an official decree published on the government’s official portal, a total of 155,000 visas will be granted to migrant workers. The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) has disclosed that the reserve of quotas for Russia will comprise 51,900 people.

This quota system is specifically designed for migrant workers from countries that have visa regimes with Russia. It accounts for approximately 4% of the total number of migrant workers. The primary purpose of this mechanism is to assist employers in hiring workers from nations such as China, Turkey, Vietnam, India, and Serbia. It is particularly useful in situations where it is challenging to find specialists within the country.
