The Ministry of Economy has proposed new regulations regarding the import of taxi cars in various regions of Russia. This proposal takes into consideration the localization requirements as well as the demand for passenger and transportation services. RBK made the announcement about this proposal.

It has been suggested that if regions choose to import taxi cars, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade should establish a monitoring system for purchase transactions. This would ensure buyers are able to make direct purchases from suppliers, therefore bypassing intermediaries and dealerships.

Regional authorities are being encouraged to learn from Moscow’s experience and consider implementing subsidies to car companies that fulfill the localization requirements and meet the demand for their production.

Although this initiative was presented by the Department of Transport in Moscow, market players have expressed their opposition to it.
