Gyumri Municipality’s 2024 Annual Work Plan and Budget Not Approved by Majority Votes

In a recent development, it has been reported that the Gyumri municipality’s 2024 annual work plan has failed to gain approval from 9 out of the 17 votes. This includes the approval of the budget for the upcoming year. The spokesperson for the municipality shared this information with the public.

Lucine Sargsyan, the head of the municipality, presented the matter at hand during a meeting of the Gyumri City Council. The council consists of 17 members, with 11 present and 4 absent during the session.

Today, on December 29, the Gyumri mayoral election was held, marking an important event for the city and its residents.

The session included a comprehensive agenda, featuring several pivotal questions for discussion and decision-making. These items encompassed the approval of the mayor’s agenda, the municipality’s agenda, the 2024 annual work plan, as well as various changes and decisions linked to the Gyumri municipality.

Unfortunately, both the 2024 annual work plan and the municipality’s 2024 budget failed to garner the necessary votes for approval. Out of the 17 votes, 9 were opposed to the plans.

The breakdown of votes in favor of the 2024 annual work plan was as follows: the “Balasanyan Alliance” group secured 13 votes, the “City Unity Treaty” group obtained 11 votes, the “Living Country” group received 2 votes, the “Zartonk” group earned 4 votes, and the “National” group was backed by 2 votes.

Similarly, the breakdown of votes in favor of the 2024 budget saw the “Balasanyan Alliance” group with 13 votes, the “City Unity Treaty” group with 11 votes, the “Living Country” group with 2 votes, the “Zartonk” group with 4 votes, and the “National” group with 2 votes.
