“Armenia’s Newest Airport ‘Syunik’ Faces Delays in Inaugural Flights”

Earlier this year, a new airport named “Syunik” was launched in the city of Kapan. The airport is set to operate regular flights on Thursdays and Fridays, providing convenience and accessibility to the local community.

Yesterday, on December 29, an opening ceremony was held in the city of Sisian to celebrate the inauguration of the airport. The event was graced by the presence of Garnik Sargsyan, the Minister of Transport, Communication, and Information Technologies.

During the ceremony, the minister addressed the issue of delayed flights, expressing regret over the circumstances that prevented the scheduled flights from taking place. However, he assured the attendees that both the government and private sector partners have taken steps to acquire navigational and hydro-aerodrome equipment.

“These equipment will be installed at the airport by 2024, allowing us to operate flights regardless of weather conditions. This will significantly reduce our dependency on unpredictable weather patterns,” explained the minister.

As news of the Syunik airport spreads, it brings hope for improved connectivity and economic growth in the region. The airport’s ability to offer regular flights will not only benefit local residents but also attract tourists and investors to the area.
