Yerevan and Baku are approaching a ceasefire agreement, according to Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, as reported by RIA Novosti. Peskov stated that the countries are close to reaching an agreement and expressed hope that it will be finalized soon, although he acknowledged that it is a challenging process. He emphasized the presence of political will for peace in both countries and extended support for their efforts. Peskov further highlighted the significance of the ceasefire agreement for the region’s stability and achieving peace.

Peskov also mentioned that while the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan did not attend the events in Petersburg, they had the opportunity for brief contacts. He clarified that no negotiations were held but that the possibility of such contacts has historically proven effective, particularly with the involvement of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. He maintained that this remains a possibility, emphasizing the openness to communication with all parties involved.
