A powerful earthquake struck Sochi, resulting in the unfortunate death of one person. The body was found in the “Interfax” building on Sunday. According to emergency services, the victim was a resident of the Moscow region who was killed by a building collapse on HLKEM 60-year-old street, located 10 blocks away. The district court of the Krasnodar region has confirmed this information and is currently investigating the incident. Authorities have announced that the district court of Sochi has initiated an investigation into possible negligence by the building’s management that may have contributed to the collapse.

Earlier reports stated that the earthquake in Sochi caused significant damage to over 80 buildings, leading to the evacuation of numerous residents from their apartment buildings. Local networks have also reported power outages in the area. The head of the regional administration, RF AIN Krasnodar, released a statement explaining that the disruption in electricity supply was due to damage to power lines caused by the earthquake. This affected approximately 11,800 people. Emergency measures will be in place until December 25th to address the aftermath of the earthquake and restore normalcy to the affected areas.
