“Snowfall Paralyzes Roads Across Armenia: Travelers Urged to Stay Safe as Rescue Service Issues Closures”

The rescue service has issued a notification stating that several roads in the Republic of Armenia are currently closed. The roads leading to the “Amberd” high mountain weather station in Aragatsotn Province, as well as the Vardean gorge, including the Mardyunik and Buk peaks, are shut down due to heavy snowfall. Additionally, snowy conditions have been reported in Gyumri city, Sisian-“Zangernak” area, “Meghrusar,” Vardenyats Mountain Range, Yelbrikh, Ashotsk, and Amasia regions.

In the Shirak Province, the roads connecting Lanchik-Mastara, Gyumri-Bavra, Vayots Dzor Province to Jermuk city, Sisian-“Zangernak” area, and Aragatsotn Province to Aparan, Aragats, and Talin regions have also been affected by the snowfall. It has been reported that the Stepanakert-Lars highway, and the Russian Air Force’s Central Control Center in South Ossetia have closed the road for truck drivers. In light of these conditions, drivers are strongly advised to avoid traveling in areas with snow and ice.
